1
Arrive in Paro, where one of the world’s most spectacular flight approaches offers sweeping views of the Himalayan peaks. After clearing immigration, travel through forested valleys and riverside landscapes to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital. The afternoon introduces you to the country’s unique blend of tradition and modernity, with opportunities to explore key landmarks while adjusting to Bhutan’s gentle pace of life.

Leave Thimphu behind and travel across the spectacular Dochula Pass, where 108 memorial chortens stand against a backdrop of snow-capped Himalayan peaks on clear days. Descend into the warmer Punakha Valley, once Bhutan’s capital and still considered one of the kingdom’s most beautiful regions. Along the way, forests, mountain vistas and traditional villages reveal Bhutan’s extraordinary natural beauty.

Spend the day discovering Punakha’s cultural treasures. The magnificent Punakha Dzong, positioned at the meeting point of two rivers, is widely regarded as Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress-monastery. Beyond its impressive architecture, the valley offers suspension bridges, terraced fields and peaceful riverside landscapes that showcase a quieter side of Bhutanese life.

Journey back west through Bhutan’s mountainous interior toward Paro Valley. Surrounded by forested hills and traditional farmhouses, Paro is home to many of the kingdom’s most important religious and historical landmarks. The valley’s peaceful atmosphere and dramatic scenery make it one of Bhutan’s most memorable destinations.

Explore the cultural landmarks that define Paro. Visit impressive fortress-monasteries, museums and sacred sites that preserve Bhutan’s history and identity. Beyond the monuments, Paro’s streets, local markets and traditional architecture offer an authentic glimpse into daily life in the Himalayan kingdom.

Today brings the highlight of the journey: a hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang). Clinging dramatically to a cliff face high above the valley floor, the monastery is Bhutan’s most famous landmark and a symbol of the country’s spiritual heritage. The trail winds through pine forests draped in prayer flags before revealing breathtaking views of the monastery seemingly suspended above the valley. For many visitors, this is the defining experience of Bhutan.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey. As you depart the Kingdom of Bhutan, memories of mountain passes, ancient monasteries, sacred valleys and the unforgettable Tiger’s Nest remain as lasting reminders of one of the world’s most distinctive destinations.
