Fly to Alta Floresta before transferring for approximately 3.5 hours into a private rainforest reserve. This region sits on the southern fringe of the Amazon and is regarded as one of the best wildlife areas in Brazil, particularly for birdwatching and large mammal sightings. Fly south toward the Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland. Upon arrival, transfer to a wildlife lodge strategically located for animal viewing. The chosen lodge is located near an area regularly visited by these elusive wild cats.

Travel to Porto Jofre before continuing by boat into the remote Piquiri River region. This is widely considered one of the best places on Earth to observe wild jaguars. The landscapes become increasingly remote as you move away from roads and deeper into the Pantanal’s waterways.

Spend the morning and afternoon exploring the river channels by boat in search of jaguars. The Piquiri River provides access to quieter sections of the Pantanal, improving opportunities for sightings. Alongside jaguars, watch for giant otters, capybaras, caimans, jabiru storks, and hyacinth macaws.

Continue searching the waterways and floodplains of the Pantanal. Unlike many wildlife destinations where predator sightings are rare, this region consistently produces some of the world’s highest probabilities of observing jaguars in the wild. Every excursion offers opportunities for exceptional wildlife photography.

Return from the Piquiri River region to the main Pantanal lodge. Enjoy additional wildlife activities and a final opportunity to observe the resident ocelots or explore the surrounding wetlands.
