Arrive in Havana, where your private driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. Later, begin your immersion in Cuba’s creative scene with drinks and a personal welcome from a local artist inside an emerging art space. Continue to Fábrica de Arte Cubano for dinner before exploring this celebrated multidisciplinary venue privately, moving between galleries, live music and DJ spaces with a mojito in hand. It is an energetic first glimpse of the contemporary culture that shapes Havana after dark.
Day
2
Spend the morning exploring Habana Vieja with your local host, discovering historic plazas alongside more intimate glimpses of everyday Havana, including local shops, residential solares and Taller de Gráfica. Step inside a private workshop to meet an emerging Cuban artist and hear about their creative path before pausing for lunch at a neighbourhood paladar. In the afternoon, cruise through Havana in a classic American convertible, then exchange four wheels for dancing shoes during a private salsa lesson. The day concludes inside a Cuban chef’s home, sharing dinner while hearing how ingenuity and limited resources influence the island’s contemporary culinary culture.
Day
3
Begin with a visit to a Cuban tile artist before turning to the country’s broader artistic legacy at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Continue to the magnificent Gran Teatro de La Habana, an architectural landmark associated with Cuban theatre, music and classical dance. After lunch and a cafecito, move beyond Havana’s headline sights on a cultural immersion experience through a local neighbourhood, visiting homes and independent businesses along the way. Later, learn the nuances of Cuban rum during a guided tasting with a professional sommelier before dinner and an evening of salsa dancing at a favourite local venue.
Day
4
Step inside the home studio of a Cuban artist for a more personal encounter with Havana’s creative community. Learn about their influences before taking part in a guided workshop and producing a piece of your own. After lunch, visit a distinctive contemporary gallery housed within a former cinema and showcasing both Cuban and international work. Continue into San Isidro, where murals, street art and independent galleries have transformed parts of the once-industrial neighbourhood into an emerging cultural district. Your final evening pairs a farewell dinner in an atmospheric restored setting with live Cuban music.
Day
5
Enjoy breakfast before an optional final visit to a local art collective. Go behind the scenes with Havana’s creative community, meeting artists and discussing the ideas, experiences and influences shaping their work. Afterwards, your private transfer takes you to Havana Airport for your departure, concluding five days devoted not simply to viewing Cuban art, but to meeting the people producing it and experiencing the neighbourhoods, workshops and cultural spaces in which Havana’s artistic identity continues to evolve.
