Welcome to Jeddah. Over the years, no Saudi city has been more open to outside influences such as traders, international artists, and Makkah-bound pilgrims than the ancient port of Jeddah. The city’s unofficial motto is “Jeddah ghair,” meaning “Jeddah is different.” Today, Jeddah is Saudi Arabia’s vibrant cosmopolitan hub, home to modern hotels and major international events.

Today we will begin our tour in the morning with a short stop at Jeddah Corniche and Jeddah Waterfront, before continuing to our next destination, Tayebat Museum.

We will then visit The Tayebat Museum (closed on Fridays), which offers a fascinating look into Jeddah’s long and cosmopolitan history. The museum provides a superbly curated representation of the city’s 2,500-year history. Located in the Al Faisaliyah district, the museum is housed in a multi-room complex designed in traditional Hijazi architecture, with bay windows decorated with intricate wooden latticework and coral masonry.

With several floors of exhibits, the museum presents a living history lesson about the foundations of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the wider Arabian Peninsula. One entire floor is dedicated to the city’s rich Islamic heritage.

After our visit, we will continue to The House of Islamic Arts, a museum specialising in Islamic art. The museum showcases over a thousand pieces representing 15 centuries of Islamic artistic heritage from regions stretching from China and India to the Maghreb and Andalusia.

Before continuing the tour, we will stop for lunch at one of the recommended local restaurants in Jeddah that serve traditional dishes.

In the evening, we will begin our tour in Al-Balad, which locals call “the town,” referring to the historic center of Jeddah.

Al-Balad was founded in the 7th century and historically served as the heart of Jeddah. During the tour, we will explore the history of these buildings and enter one of them to see the interior design and traditional furniture.

Al-Balad is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the historic buildings with their distinctive wooden windows and doors have been carefully preserved. Some structures were even built using sea shells and stones.

We will also explain the historical importance of various sites while walking through the narrow streets, describing how merchants once sold their goods and how pilgrims gathered supplies before heading to Makkah through the Makkah Gate in Al-Balad.

The Old Mosques are another major attraction. Some of them were founded more than 300 years ago and are still functioning today.

Today, we will visit two famous mosques: The Holy Mosque and the Qiba Mosque, both of which hold great significance in Islamic history.

The first mosque was originally the house where Prophet Mohammed lived and where his grave is located. The second mosque, the Qiba Mosque, is considered the first mosque ever built in Islamic history.

You will also receive a general overview of how the city has developed and evolved over the past 1,400 years.

In the same area, there is a pedestrian street filled with traditional food shops and snack vendors where we will stop for a lunch break.

We will then visit one of the local homes to experience Saudi hospitality. During this visit, you will enjoy a home-cooked traditional meal with a local family.

This experience also provides an opportunity to learn about Saudi culture and family traditions. Homes are often designed to accommodate large family gatherings, as the average family typically has four to five children.

During this approximately three-hour experience, you will gain meaningful insight into Saudi family life and cultural values.

Today we begin our exploration with Madain Saleh (Hegra), a remarkable archaeological site that combines natural beauty, historical importance, and cultural heritage.

Stunning Architecture – Hegra features impressive rock-cut tombs and facades that showcase the remarkable craftsmanship of the Nabataean civilization.

Scenic Landscape – The site is surrounded by dramatic desert scenery, including sandstone cliffs and rocky formations.

Cultural Heritage – Hegra reflects the rich history of the Nabataean civilization and its role in ancient trade networks.

After the tour we will visit Elephant Rock, also known as Jabal AlFil, one of AlUla’s most impressive geological formations. Unlike the hand-carved tombs of Hegra, Elephant Rock was naturally formed through millions of years of wind and water erosion.

The site is surrounded by fine desert sand and dramatic rock formations. The area also features cafés and seating areas built into the landscape, making it a perfect location to enjoy the sunset.

We will travel to Wadi Al Dissah, where our team will prepare a traditional lunch upon arrival.

After lunch, we will take a walking tour through this spectacular valley and explore Wadi Dissah, a 15-kilometre canyon running through the Jebel Qaraqir sandstone massif south of Tabuk.

One of the most striking features of this canyon is its size. At the eastern entrance, the cliffs are already over 100 meters high, while at the western entrance, they rise to nearly 500 meters.

Another unique feature of Wadi Qaraqir is the water stream flowing through the canyon. This creates lush vegetation with palm trees, bushes, and tall grasses growing between the towering cliffs.

Today, we will explore the capital city of Saudi Arabia.

We begin with the National Museum, where visitors can discover Saudi Arabia’s rich history through artefacts and exhibitions covering thousands of years.

After lunch, we will continue to Al Masmak Fortress, built around 1865. This historic fortress was the site of the famous 1902 raid by Ibn Saud during the reunification of Saudi Arabia.

Nearby, we will visit Souq Al-Zal, one of the oldest traditional markets in the city, where you can find traditional clothing, antiques, Arabic perfumes (oud), and jewellery.

We will visit Diriyah, the birthplace of the first Saudi state and a historic crossroads for traders and pilgrims.

The At-Turaif District in Diriyah is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its well-preserved mud-brick architecture that reflects the traditional Najdi style.

We will then travel to Al-Ahsa Oasis, one of the largest natural agricultural oases in the world, with more than three million palm trees and many natural springs.

We will explore Qaisariya Souk, one of the oldest markets in Saudi Arabia, mentioned in travellers’ diaries as early as 1822.

We will also visit the Ibrahim Palace, an important Ottoman-era government building that now partly serves as a museum.

Finally, we will visit Al Qarah Mountains, famous for their caves and surrounding palm groves. This scenic area is a popular gathering place for both locals and visitors.

Al-Asfar Lake is located east of Umran city in the Al-Ahsa region. Surrounded by sand dunes, the lake is considered one of the most important wetland lakes in the region and has historical references dating back to the Abbasid era.

We will then travel from Hofuf to Dhahran to visit Ithraa (King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture). Ithraa is one of Saudi Arabia’s most important cultural and creative destinations, developed by Saudi Aramco.

Since opening in 2018, Ithraa has become a hub for exhibitions, learning, and cultural exchange. During our visit, we will explore one of the exhibitions and the library.

Today we will transfer you to the airport according to your flight schedule.

Optional travel extensions may include Bahrain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, or Egypt or Jordan, all accessible via short flights from Saudi Arabia.
