Ladakh Luxury Camping

Arrive in Leh at approximately 3,600 metres above sea level and transfer to your luxury tented accommodation in the Leh Valley. The remainder of the day is intentionally relaxed to allow proper acclimatisation to the altitude. Surrounded by stark mountains and clear Himalayan skies, this first day focuses on rest and adjustment before the adventure begins.

Enjoy a leisurely morning around the camp’s alfalfa fields and the surrounding farmlands of Nyerma. Later, embark on a heritage walk through Leh, exploring markets filled with Pashmina shawls, Ladakhi jewellery, Tibetan handicrafts, and local crafts. Visit the iconic Shanti Stupa, where Buddhist relics and panoramic views over the valley provide one of Ladakh’s most memorable introductions.

Wake before sunrise to participate in a traditional morning prayer ceremony at Thiksey Monastery. The chanting monks, butter lamps, and mountain views create one of the most atmospheric experiences in Ladakh. Continue to Hemis Monastery, the largest and oldest monastic institution in Ladakh, renowned for its Buddhist heritage, historic artefacts, and resident monks.

Travel approximately three and a half hours into Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass, one of the world’s highest motorable roads at around 5,570 metres. The journey traverses dramatic mountain scenery, remote villages, and vast Himalayan landscapes before descending into Nubra Valley. Pass the region’s famous sand dunes before arriving at your luxury camp near Diskit, where private decks offer sweeping mountain views beneath star-filled skies.

Travel north along the Siachen Glacier route toward Yarab Tso, a sacred hidden lake located high in the mountains at approximately 4,800 metres. After a short hike, reach its crystal-clear waters set among rugged Himalayan terrain. Later, experience the striking contrast of Nubra Valley’s Hunder Sand Dunes, where double-humped Bactrian camels roam landscapes that feel more Central Asian than Indian. Finish the day with a sunset camel safari.

Begin with a visit to Diskit Gompa, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley, famous for its enormous Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Depending on conditions and interests, continue through remote Himalayan landscapes including Wari-La Pass or enjoy an outdoor gourmet lunch experience surrounded by Ladakh’s rugged scenery. Return to the Leh Valley for a final evening under the mountains.

Transfer to Leh Airport for your onward journey. Your adventure concludes after a week exploring some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Himalayas, combining Tibetan Buddhist culture, luxury tented camps, high-altitude mountain passes, and remote wilderness experiences.
