Day

1

Arrival in Bogotá

Arrive in Bogotá, one of the world’s highest capital cities, where historic neighbourhoods sit alongside an increasingly contemporary skyline. Settle into your hotel and allow the remainder of the day to unfold gently after your journey, perhaps taking an introductory stroll through the city or simply relaxing before the exploration begins. Bogotá provides an atmospheric first glimpse of Colombia, combining Andean scenery with centuries of history, creative energy and a thriving culinary culture.

Day

2

Understanding Bogotá's Culture

Begin among the vivid flowers, exotic fruits and local produce of Paloquemao Market before exploring the cobbled streets of historic La Candelaria. Visit the Botero Museum to see works by Fernando Botero alongside international masters, then continue to the celebrated Gold Museum and its remarkable collection of pre-Hispanic treasures. Later, rise above Bogotá by cable car to Monserrate, where a 17th-century church crowns the mountain and far-reaching views reveal the extraordinary scale of Colombia’s high-altitude capital.

Day

3

Discovering La Chorrera Waterfall

Leave the city behind for the green highlands around Choachí, close to Chingaza National Park. Walk through lush forest towards La Chorrera, Colombia’s tallest waterfall, where water plunges approximately 1,935 feet down a moss-covered cliff. The dramatic cascade and surrounding mountain scenery create a striking contrast to Bogotá’s urban energy, offering a full day immersed in the quieter landscapes of the Eastern Andes before returning to the capital.

Day

4

Journey Into the Colombian Amazon

Fly south to Leticia, where Colombia meets Brazil and Peru along the Amazon River. From here, venture into the rainforest and settle into your secluded jungle lodge, surrounded by one of the most biodiverse environments on Earth. Dense canopy, orchids and riverbanks alive with wildlife replace the high-altitude scenery of Bogotá, while nearby Indigenous communities continue traditions shaped by the forest and its waterways. Spend your first afternoon absorbing the sounds and scale of this extraordinary ecosystem.

Day

5

Understanding Tikuna Culture

Begin with a visit to a Tikuna community, gaining insight into traditions closely connected to the forest and river. After lunch, venture into the Calanoa Reserve, following jungle trails towards Matamata Creek on the edge of Amacayacu National Park. Here, exchange the forest path for the water and continue by canoe, paddling through the immense Amazonian landscape at a deliberately gentle pace. The day combines cultural exchange with an intimate exploration of the rainforest’s waterways and extraordinary natural surroundings.

Day

6

Discovering Wildlife and Indigenous Knowledge

Choose between two immersive explorations of the Amazon. Travel to Mocagua Island, where immense water lilies spread across still waterways, followed by a river journey with the possibility of encountering the Amazon’s famous pink dolphins. Alternatively, explore the wildlife-rich lakes around Vista Alegre near the Peruvian border. Back on land, visit the peaceful Milciades garden for an encounter with a Cocama medicine practitioner, discovering how generations of plant knowledge have shaped traditional approaches to wellbeing and healing in the rainforest.

Day

7

Journey to Santa Marta

Leave the Amazon and fly via Bogotá to Santa Marta, one of South America’s oldest European-founded cities and the gateway to Colombia’s northern coffee highlands. As you travel towards the mountains, watch the landscape transform from Caribbean lowlands into cooler cloud forest. This region is particularly rich in birdlife, with species including golden-winged sparrows and black-backed antshrikes at lower elevations, while endemic birds such as the Santa Marta blossomcrown inhabit the misty forests higher in the Sierra Nevada.

Day

8

Savouring Coffee and Birdlife

Spend the day amid the cool mountain forests above Santa Marta, where coffee cultivation and exceptional biodiversity exist side by side. Follow forest trails with an expert eye on the canopy, searching for the region’s remarkable birdlife while discovering plantations scattered across the hillsides. Pause for coffee tastings that reveal how altitude, climate and local growing conditions shape the character of the beans produced here. It is a quieter, deeply immersive day combining natural history with one of Colombia’s most celebrated agricultural traditions.

Day

9

Understanding Arhuaco Culture

Visit Katanzama for an encounter with the traditions of the Arhuaco people, whose culture has been shaped by the landscapes stretching between the Sierra Nevada and Caribbean coast. Learn about sacred crops, spiritual beliefs and the relationship between community and environment before enjoying lunch overlooking the coast. Meet local artisans to understand the symbolism woven into traditional mochilas, then finish the day floating gently down the Don Diego River, surrounded by jungle as the water carries you towards its meeting point with the Caribbean Sea.

Day

10

Final Departure

Enjoy your final morning on Colombia’s Caribbean coast before transferring for your onward journey. Your adventure concludes after connecting three dramatically different regions: the cultural and mountainous surroundings of Bogotá, the extraordinary biodiversity and Indigenous traditions of the Amazon, and the coffee forests, communities and Caribbean landscapes of Santa Marta and the Sierra Nevada.
