1

Arrival in Hobart

Arrive in Hobart and settle into the centrally located Hotel Grand Chancellor, with the remainder of the afternoon free to relax after your journey. In the evening, meet your local guides and fellow travellers over welcome drinks before sitting down to a two-course dinner. It is an easy introduction to Tasmania and the beginning of an 11-day journey through the island’s coastlines, national parks, historic towns and wilderness.

Day

2

Discovering Bruny Island

Travel south to Kettering and cross the D’Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island. From Adventure Bay, embark on a wilderness cruise along the island’s rugged coastline, venturing beneath towering cliffs, past sea caves and towards the meeting point of the Tasman Sea and Southern Ocean. Watch for seals, dolphins, seabirds and migrating whales before enjoying lunch ashore. Afterwards, search for Bruny’s distinctive white wallabies, climb to the Neck Lookout and sample local honey, cheese, beverages and oysters on the journey back to Hobart.

Day

3

Discovering Hobart's Culture and History

Begin with a guided introduction to Hobart before ascending kunanyi / Mount Wellington for expansive views across the capital and surrounding landscape. Return to the waterfront to browse Salamanca Market’s hundreds of local produce, craft and artisan stalls, then continue to historic Richmond, renowned for its sandstone architecture and convict-era heritage. Following a cheese tasting, discover the provocative collections of MONA and the neighbouring Moorilla estate. Finish the experience with a scenic journey aboard the MONA ROMA ferry back to Hobart’s waterfront.

Day

4

Journey to the Tasman Peninsula

Journey east through Tasmania’s countryside towards the Tasman Peninsula, pausing at Pirate’s Bay Lookout before sampling handcrafted treats at the Tasmanian Chocolate Foundry and visiting Port Arthur Lavender. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, with several hours to explore the former penal settlement and its waterfront on an included harbour cruise. Afterwards, choose to remain longer at Port Arthur or venture to Maingon Bay and Remarkable Cave, where sandstone cliffs meet the Southern Ocean. Overnight at peaceful Stewarts Bay Lodge.

Day

5

Discovering Freycinet National Park

Leave Port Arthur for Tasmania’s spectacular East Coast, stopping at Kate’s Berry Farm before reaching Devil’s Corner Vineyard for lunch and a tasting overlooking the Hazards and Great Oyster Bay. Continue into Freycinet National Park, where you can hike to the famous Wineglass Bay Lookout or opt for a gentler excursion to Cape Tourville Lighthouse, with further time around Honeymoon Bay. After an afternoon surrounded by granite peaks, clear water and coastal wilderness, continue north to Bicheno for the evening.

Day

6

Journey to St Helens

Start at East Coast Natureworld, home to native wildlife including Tasmanian devils, wombats, wallabies, kangaroos and spotted quolls, with opportunities to observe feeding and encounter some residents at close range. Return to Bicheno to see its coastal blowhole before enjoying lunch at the waterfront Lobster Shack. Continue north along Tasmania’s East Coast to Ironhouse Brewery for a guided tasting of craft beer, whisky, spirits and wine. Afterwards, travel onwards to the fishing town of St Helens for the night.

Day

7

Journey to Launceston

Travel north to the Bay of Fires, where clear blue water, pale beaches and orange-lichen-covered rocks create one of Tasmania’s most distinctive coastal landscapes. Turn inland to Pyengana for a local cheese tasting before walking through fern-filled forest to the base of St Columba Falls. Enjoy lunch at the characterful Pub in the Paddock, then continue to Bridestowe Lavender Estate, where sweeping rows of lavender contrast beautifully with Tasmania’s rich soil and open countryside. Finish the day in Launceston, at the heart of the Tamar Valley.

Day

8

Discovering Tamar Valley

Enjoy a gentler day beginning at Cataract Gorge, where you can wander through the landscaped grounds or cross the gorge aboard its celebrated chairlift. Continue over the Batman Bridge to Beauty Point for a visit to either Seahorse World or Platypus House, offering an up-close introduction to some of Tasmania’s most fascinating wildlife. Afterwards, travel through historic Beaconsfield and into the Tamar Valley wine region, where the afternoon is devoted to a leisurely lunch and tasting of Tasmania’s acclaimed cool-climate wines.

Day

9

Experiencing Cradle Mountain

Journey towards Cradle Mountain, pausing first in Sheffield to admire the town’s extensive collection of outdoor murals. Continue into Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park and make your way to beautiful Dove Lake for time beside one of Tasmania’s most recognisable alpine landscapes. Explore Waldheim Chalet and the surrounding rainforest, where ancient King Billy pines, myrtle, sassafras and native beech create an almost primeval atmosphere. Further short walks are available around the Interpretation Centre before travelling onwards to Tullah Lakeside Lodge on Lake Rosebery.

Day

10

Discovering Tasmania's Wild West

Choose between two signature experiences on Tasmania’s remote West Coast. Cruise the Gordon River aboard Spirit of the Wild, gliding through the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and visiting Heritage Landing and historic Sarah Island; or travel to Queenstown to board the West Coast Wilderness Railway, following a remarkable historic route through cool-temperate rainforest, steep mountain terrain and the King River Gorge. Whichever experience you choose, the day reveals the history and raw landscapes of western Tasmania before a final celebratory group dinner in Strahan.

Day

11

Final Departure

Begin the final journey across Tasmania, leaving Strahan and following the Lyell Highway through the rugged Central Highlands. Stop at Derwent Bridge to visit The Wall in the Wilderness, an extraordinary sculptural project carved across approximately 100 metres of timber and depicting the people, stories and hardships of Tasmania’s high country. After time for lunch, continue through the Derwent Valley towards Hobart. Your journey concludes on arrival in the capital, with drop-off available at Hobart Airport or your preferred city hotel.
