Day
1
You will be met by an ‘SLIS’ representative at the Colombo airport and escorted to your vehicle for the transfer to Colombo for your overnight hotel (approx. 1-hour drive).
Colombo: Although it is unlikely to reclaim its 19th-century moniker “the garden city of the East,” Colombo has nevertheless emerged as a must-see stop in Sri Lanka. No longer just the sprawling city you must endure on your way to the beaches, it has become a worthy destination and makes an excellent start—or finish—to your Sri Lankan adventures. The legacies of colonial Colombo’s garden roots are still very much intact along its often shady boulevards. Fort is a compelling place thanks to the ongoing restoration of its landmark colonial architecture, while Pettah brims with markets and rampant commerce. Colombo’s cosmopolitan side supports ever-more stylish eateries, galleries, and shops.
Uga Residence: Nestled in the heart of Colombo, Uga Residence enchants with its fusion of colonial grandeur and contemporary elegance. This 19th-century mansion, lovingly restored, cradles ten opulent suites where modern comforts meet timeless beauty. Guests are serenaded by the whispering courtyard, adorned with a serene pool, and indulge in gourmet delights at the exquisite on-site restaurant.
Day
2
Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel.
Optional: visit the Saskia Fernando Art Gallery, a contemporary Sri Lankan art gallery representing leading established and emerging artists.
Nelum Pokuna Art Street: Located directly behind the National Museum of Colombo, this vibrant roadside market is a kaleidoscope of colour. Across from Viharamahadevi Park, it showcases local artists displaying paintings of traditional stilt fishermen, tea plantations, Buddhist monks, and elephants. Visitors can interact with artists and gain insight into Sri Lanka’s artistic culture.
Day
3
Enjoy your time in the vibrant capital of the island.
Join expert guide Mark Forbes for a Colombo city walk. Starting at the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, explore the streets, alleyways, shops, and colonial buildings of Fort and Pettah.
Highlights include the oldest clock tower in Asia, the original colonial emblem of HSBC, and insights into the construction of the Grand Oriental Hotel.
The walk explores architecture from the 17th century to the 1990s, primarily from Dutch and British rule, reflecting Colombo’s commercial and cultural heritage.
Day

Spend a leisurely morning at the hotel before an exciting evening.
Experience the Nawam Perahera, a traditional Sri Lankan cultural procession organised by the Gangaramaya Temple. The event features decorated elephants, masked dancers, drummers, torch bearers, and over 500 monks.
A large tusker carrying the relic symbolises the integrity of the procession, creating a spectacular celebration of Sri Lankan culture.
