An Expedition Between King George Island Puerto Williams

Day

1

Arrival on King George Island

Arrive on King George Island, the largest of the South Shetland Islands and a remarkable starting point for your Antarctic adventure. After landing amid the island’s rugged polar scenery, join your expedition team and transfer by Zodiac to your ship. Settle aboard as you leave the South Shetlands behind and begin navigating towards the dramatic landscapes of the Antarctic Peninsula.

Day

2

Discovering the Antarctic Peninsula

Wake to the extraordinary landscapes of the Antarctic Peninsula, where immense glaciers descend from snow-covered mountains into iceberg-filled waters. Expedition activities are shaped by the conditions encountered each day, allowing your guides to select the most rewarding opportunities for Zodiac cruises and shore landings. Step onto remote beaches, explore secluded bays and begin discovering the wildlife that thrives along this frozen coastline.

Day

3

Discovering the Wildlife of Antarctica

Continue exploring the Peninsula in search of Antarctica’s remarkable wildlife. Depending on the landing sites chosen by the expedition team, you may encounter lively colonies of Gentoo, Chinstrap or Adélie Penguins, while seals rest along the shoreline or on drifting ice. Keep watch over the surrounding waters as well, where whales may surface against a backdrop of glaciers and immense sculpted icebergs.

Day

4

Discovering Mesmerising Icebergs

Venture into narrow channels and secluded bays aboard a Zodiac, bringing you closer to the immense ice formations that define the Antarctic Peninsula. Cruise beside towering icebergs in extraordinary shades of blue and watch for wildlife along the surrounding ice. When conditions permit, step ashore for guided walks that reveal a completely different perspective on this vast and largely untouched environment.

Day

5

Day at Exploration

Spend another full day immersed in Antarctica’s extraordinary wilderness. The Captain and expedition team continue to respond to changing weather, sea ice and wildlife movements, allowing the voyage to take advantage of the strongest opportunities available. Whether hiking across a remote landing site, watching penguins along the shoreline or simply observing glaciers from the ship, the landscape remains constantly changing.

Day

6

Final Explorations

Make the most of your final day along the Antarctic Peninsula with further opportunities for Zodiac exploration and shore landings. Search for wildlife, navigate among drifting ice and enjoy one last chance to step onto the continent before the ship turns north. As evening approaches, leave the frozen landscapes behind and begin the journey across the Southern Ocean towards South America.

Day

7

Journey Through the Drake Passage

Sail north through the Drake Passage, the legendary body of water separating Antarctica from South America. After several days of intensive exploration, enjoy time aboard while watching for albatrosses, petrels and other seabirds accompanying the ship. Attend presentations from the expedition team, relax in the observation areas or simply watch the Southern Ocean stretch towards the horizon.

Day

8

Cruising Towards Cape Horn

Continue across the Drake Passage towards the southern reaches of South America. The stark white scenery of Antarctica gradually gives way to open ocean, with the mountainous landscapes of Tierra del Fuego eventually appearing on the horizon. Enjoy your final full day aboard as the ship approaches the intricate channels and islands surrounding Cape Horn.

Day

9

Arrival in Puerto Williams

Arrive in Puerto Williams on Navarino Island, one of the world’s southernmost settlements. Surrounded by the rugged mountains and channels of Chilean Patagonia, this remote community provides a fitting conclusion to your journey from Antarctica. Disembark after an expedition encompassing wildlife-rich shores, immense glaciers, sculpted icebergs and the legendary waters of the Drake Passage.
