We begin at Kilimanjaro International Airport, from where we transfer to a local hotel to prepare for departure the following morning. An afternoon coffee estate tour around Arusha makes for a relaxing day whilst giving us a chance to freshen up before kicking our journey off.

After breakfast, we set out from Arusha with a vehicle and safari guide, headed for Lake Manyara, where we will do a short trip through the reserve and on to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Passing the viewpoint for the Ngorongoro Crater, we head further northward into the remote depths of the highlands. Accommodation is at The Highlands, with its focus on tribal history in the area.

Over the next three days, discover the breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage of the Ngorongoro Highlands.
Begin with a guided hike to the spectacular Empakaai Crater, where panoramic views, lush forests, and a tranquil soda lake create one of Tanzania’s most scenic walking experiences. Situated within some of East Africa’s most unspoilt tribal lands, the crater offers exceptional natural beauty and opportunities to encounter local wildlife along the way.
Later, immerse yourself in the traditions of the Maasai with a visit to a local village, gaining authentic insight into the customs, history, and daily life of one of Africa’s most iconic communities.
The following day, embark on a full-day safari into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Explore the crater floor in search of elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalo, and hippos before enjoying a scenic picnic lunch surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of this remarkable natural wonder.

After breakfast, depart the Ngorongoro Highlands and board a scenic light aircraft flight to the Northern Serengeti, one of Africa’s most sought-after safari destinations.
Over the coming days, immerse yourself in the spectacle of the Great Migration, as vast herds of wildebeest and zebra traverse the northern plains in search of fresh grazing. Depending on the season and a touch of luck, you may witness the dramatic Mara River crossings, where crocodile-filled waters and prowling predators create one of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife spectacles.
